“We will be organizing a summit with FPS/Battlefield  clan leaders… on how to best maintain and promote BF3 as a competitive game and other clan topics”  says Triggerpappy.  We can only hope that DICE will help us, but sometimes all you have to do is ask.  They have arranged for this to take place on Thursday the 20th in their Teamspeak 3 server.  They have asked DICE to come but, there is no word so far on their attendance.  Trigger has also asked that “each community limit themselves to no more than 2 people”.  Some topics on the agenda include but are not limited to: setting up scrims, Punkbuster, and server providers.  This looks to be a good way to make a standard and set the stage for the competition scene in the upcoming shooter.  I hope to be able to represent Raov at this event, as I was not able to attend the last few summits due to timing.

Battlefield 3 open beta will go live on September 29th, for PC, Xbox360 and PS3.  If you own Medal of Honor:LE or have pre-ordered BF3 on Origin you will get 48 hours early access starting on September 27th.

The featured map will be the same one from the Alpha trial: Operation Metro, set in a french city subway system.  The gametype will also be Rush again.

The beta will end a week and a half later on October 10th.

 

The full retail version will be available on October 25th, 2011.
